Qui a eu l'idée de connecter un véhicule public à INTERNET ? C'était en 1994, à Genève (SUISSE) dans un petit appartement d'une pièce. Je n'étais qu'un simple chauffeur de taxi, assez imaginatif et plein d'idées. Mon père m'avait acheté (1000.- CHF) un ordinateur d'occasion pour m'occuper. Comme je passais plus de temps dehors qu'à la maison, j'ai pensé à "mettre" cet ordinateur dans mon taxi. A l'époque, c'était le début de l'internet public, avec une ligne fixe et un MODEM (MOdulateur/DEModulateur) pour se connecter c'était une petite prouesse quand ça fonctionnait. L'idée m'est donc venue de faire de mon taxi une sorte de 2ème appartement. Il y a eu bien sûr des problèmes...
1 : l'alimentation de l'ordinateur était en 220 Volts (ce qui s'est avéré stupide puisque j'aurais dû penser que l'alimentation était en 12 Volts).
2 : la connexion par l'intermédiaire d'un téléphone portable.

I was just a simple taxi driver, quite imaginative and full of ideas. My father had bought me (1000.- CHF) a second-hand computer to keep me busy. Since I spent more time outside than at home, I thought of "putting" this computer in my taxi. At the time, it was the beginning of the public internet, with a landline and a MODEM (MOdulator/DEModulator) to connect was a small feat when it worked. So the idea came to me to make my taxi a sort of 2nd apartment. There were of course problems...
1: the computer's power supply was 220 Volts (which turned out to be stupid since I should have thought that the power supply was 12 Volts).
2: the connection through a mobile phone.
